Community Health nursing department combines the skills of nursing, public health and some phases of social assistance. It functions as a part of the total public health programmes for the promotion of health, the improvement of conditions in the social and physical environment, prevention of illness, disability and rehabilitation
The department actively participates in training, service, and research in the field of community health nursing. The field training is imparted in both rural and urban areas. The community health training is given at Government Primary Health Centre, Rural and urban field practices in surrounding villages. The department actively participates in all national health programmes implemented by Government of India and State government. The department also carry out school health programmes, occupational health services, camps and yearly health survey in the affiliated areas. The department laboratory, has an excellent infrastructure to aid teaching and learning activities.
The departmental staffs believe in Preparing the candidates to build a career in the field of Community Health Nursing and to offer diverse learning experience that facilitates the development of competent community health nurse and valuable citizens, who demonstrate excellence in community service, family & individual care, education and research.
Activities like participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, camps etc. are carried out by the department enabling the nursing students to gain knowledge in a community set up and field supervision. Curricular and extra-curricular activities are jointly held by the nursing department and the community health department of the hospital. Health education for clients and their families, conducting journal reviews, research guidance for the students and celebration of World AIDS Day, TB Day, Tobacco Day and other important days are other activities of the department.
The faculty of community health Nursing Department is agreed with the philosophy of Sarji institute of Nursing Sciences and actively participating themselves and being a strong supportive system and guides to motivate the students to engage in health care activities in the community areas tirelessly.
